Follow the Leeder began in Vancouver in 2002, when I first became a Personal Trainer. Then in 2011 my family moved back home to Victoria, where I had to start my business from scratch. In 2012, ONLY one year later , I won the Westshore Individual Business Award, that was pretty cool! The gym has grown from Personal Training into Boot Camp classes. From there, I added Obstacle course training on Saturday’s and formed Mel’s Mudders. As of May 2015 I am now know as Mel-FIT X-Training Center. I bought a brand new location on Langford Parkway and opened up a large facility to accommodated my growing business.
To date, our gym has completed 6 Tough, Mudders, and several other races such as SPARTAN Beast, Mud, Sweat & Tears, Mud Mulisha, Mind Over Mountain (MOMAR) race, Kusum Klimb, Vancouver Island Trail Series and the West Coast Trail twice.
March 2014, was the first year I competed in the Crossfit Open, it was scary and awesome at the same time. Since then, every March, the entire gym participates in their own way for the Crossfit Open. For 5 weeks every Friday night, the gym cheers each other on through the grueling WOD competition, no matter your skill level, everyone participates at THEIR own fitness and skill level. The gym has continued to grow and one of my goals is to be as diverse as possible and make fitness fun for everyone. We have classes such as Kick-boxing, Beginner-FIT, Skills Plus, Baby-FIT, Mudder Training and private group training. Come join us!
